Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 29, 2026
Last updated: August 29, 2026

Overview

FoxMedicals is a personal health record (PHR) app designed to store your medical information exclusively on your own device. We do not operate a server that stores, transmits, or has access to your health data. This policy explains exactly what that means and what limited exceptions exist.

What We Do NOT Do

Where Your Data Lives

All medical information you enter — including conditions, medications, allergies, history, and emergency card data — is stored locally on your device in an encrypted local database (AES-256). The encryption key is generated on your device and stored in your device's secure hardware keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) — it is never transmitted anywhere, including to us.

Your device's operating system is configured to exclude this data from cloud backups (iCloud Backup on iOS, Auto Backup on Android), so your health data does not leave your device even through routine OS-level backup.

Device Access Controls

The app can be locked with your device's biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID / Android biometrics) or device passcode. This authentication happens entirely on your device via your operating system — we never receive or store your biometric data or passcode.

Advertising

The app may display ads served by Google AdMob to support free use of the app. Our website may separately display ads served by Google AdSense.

Optional Cloud Features

FoxMedicals may in the future offer optional cloud-based features (such as cross-device sync) as a separate, clearly-labeled opt-in tier. As of this version, these features are disabled and not available — the app operates in local-only mode by default. If cloud features are ever enabled for your account, a separate disclosure will describe exactly what data leaves your device and under what protections, and it will require your explicit consent before any health data is transmitted.

Data Deletion

Because your data lives only on your device, uninstalling the app permanently deletes your medical information. We have no copy and cannot recover it for you. Please export or back up your data (e.g., via the app's PDF export feature) before uninstalling if you want to keep a record.

Children's Privacy

FoxMedicals is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security Incident Notification

Because we do not operate servers that store your health data, the primary risk of exposure is local to your device (e.g., a lost or stolen device with an unlocked or compromised operating system). We encrypt your data at rest specifically to reduce this risk. In the unlikely event we become aware of a vulnerability that could expose users' locally-stored health data, we will notify affected users and, where required by law, relevant regulators (including the FTC under the Health Breach Notification Rule) within the legally required timeframe.

Changes to This Policy

We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice within the app before the changes take effect.

Washington and Nevada Residents

If you are a resident of Washington or Nevada, additional rights apply to you under those states' consumer health data laws. See our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy at https://www.foxmedicals.com/consumer-health-data-policy, which is also linked from our homepage, for the specific disclosures required under those laws.
